Friday, August 15, 2008: Duct tape and a phone

Brandon had to go to an orientation in Fukuoka City all day (he left at 8 am). I was wide awake, due to all that sleep I had. As soon as he left, I wanted to make sure the home phone worked, but as soon as I took it off the hook (it's a wall phone) it wouldn't hang up...the phone just kept falling off of the receiver mounted on the wall. My easy fix was duct tape...until Brandon called and explained how to fix it...after he laughed hysterically (of course!) when I told him that I duct taped it!

Also, I took my first shower. So, here's our bathing situation: keep in mind, we don't have running hot water, we have a tall, square-shaped tub and when you fill it, you flip a switch that heats the water. That is one option. Right now, it's hot, so we haven't tried that yet. Brandon rigged a shower head to the wall (next to the tub), so we can take a shower (but it's pretty cool!).

Here's our shower room. Above the window is that shower head that Brandon glued.

The third option is our "solar shower." Brandon put a couple nails on the other (left) wall in our shower room and after you've filled this bag with warm water (water that you heated on the stove), you hang it up on the nails and use the bag's hose to rinse off with. It's mostly used for camping, but it's handy for many situations, like ours (especially if we want a warm shower)!

Also, I did my 1st load of laundry and set up the DVD player! I know I could be productive without Brandon!
