This is our neighborhood.
Now, for the inside! I know you weren't expecting such a greeting in the tub :) This is our shower room (equipped with a tub, sink and tile floor...remember, we have a shower head glued above the window, when we want a cold shower...mostly for the summer months).Next door to the shower room is our toilet room.
This is how a Japanese toilet has been converted to a Western-style toilet. First...you can see...this is a typical "hole-in-the-floor" type of toliet.
Then, you've got the Western-style toilet seat converter to put on top.
Now to the kitchen! haha, great transition! Even though the kitchen (and appliances) might be a lot smaller than most, we can still cook and bake normally!! We continue to practice lots and lots of patience.
And here's our lovely, (yet cheesy) model, Brandon, wanting to take credit for the chocolate chip cookies I made!
This is our living room, equipped with a love seat (turns into a bed) and a kotatsu table (it's a coffee table, but also used in the winter time for heating. this website has a good picture of that kind of purpose: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kotatsu ). I've put some pictures (from the wedding) in frames, as well.
If you thought I left turquoise back at home, you were wrong! haha, I've got to at least try to incorporate it....in every room (if you haven't noticed!).
We've received some mail and postcards while we've been here...so we periodically add that to our room decor!
Last, but not least: our office. To the left of our printer....is our closet.

Here's the gigantic TV we watch in our bedroom! haha, actually, we don't mind it (we're either watching a movie on that, or our laptop). We've pretty much ruled-out Japanese T.V.

So, that's our place, in a nutshell. It's pretty spacious compared to most places and a family of four (who live below us) have the same layout. We're pretty happy with it!

Hey love your pics. The apartment might be small but easier to manage. Brandon's height and japanese architecture make for some great Kodak moments keep blogging. Love you guys.
I keep coming back to these restroom pictures. It just knocks me out!
I'd have a terrible time over there!
Oh, I enjoyed seeing the post cards too.
:-)
Nice pictures. I'll bet Brandon loved the bathtub shot....especially after he realized that you published it.
I have always had a fantasy of seeing Brandon scrunched up in a bathtub. Thank you for fulfilling that for me. I am just teasing you! I so enjoyed looking through all the pictures and reading about all your adventures. While I was not happy about this move, I can see you will have memories that will last a lifetime. It's also a wonderful opportunity for you to grow together as a couple. Still, I hope you come home in a year. Miss and love you both!
Sarah! Ya'll are too cute. I'm really happy for you and I hope you really enjoy your time in Japan!!

Lindsey
